AUGUST 2007 NEWSLETTER

ARTIST OF THE MONTH—CHRISTINE MURPHY

Christine received her BFA in Illustration from Massachusetts College of Art, with additional studies at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Harvard University. Christine’s post-college years were spent traveling, from Alaska to Mexico, from Newfoundland to the Azores, filling sketchbooks. This documentation of the less-than-well-known, ancient and/or wilderness places have provided endless source material for her paintings.

Her eye for detail and ability to capture the moment has served her well, and in 2006, Christine was chosen to participate in the US Air Force Art Program. At the request of the Pentagon she documented operations overseas, and the various training missions currently ongoing across Europe. A permanent addition to the Air Force Art Collection, her first painting was featured in the Air Force 60th Anniversary exhibition in Washington DC. The exhibit is currently on view at the Pentagon, from there it will be displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center before traveling to Europe.

LAST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH—August 25, 2007

The subjects of Christine Murphy’s paintings are wide and varied.  All offer exquisite detail and sense of design and spirit.  She has chosen to offer her seaside, architectural paintings of Provincetown, MA and Keywest, FL.

In the tradition of the Last Saturday of the Month events, Christine has chosen “The Carriage Barn Therapy Programs” of Newton, NH to donate a percentage of all her sales from the show.  NOA GALLERY will match that donation.

Saturday, August 25th from 2-5 pm
